New elbow. Nice!
Elbow | With Love
Uh wow, didn’t know they dropped a new album, added to the Spotify queue. Thanks, Kirk.
With Love - Elbow
More Elbow goodness from their latest album. I like to think Guy was thinking of hanging out with me (Love is my last name) when he wrote this and how awesome that would be. ;)

Got turned on to this Johann Johannsson track when I heard it in the background of the Battle:LA trailer. It’s really beautiful. In fact, the whole (wonderfully titled) album IBM 1401 A User’s Manual is bloody marvelous! I love it when I find old gems like this…
Continuations: Time for Google to Step up Payments
Apple app store subscription policy is a clear case of overreaching. I have written before about how I don’t think the 30% take rate for Apple is justified or sustainable. Extending that pricing to an ongoing relationship is particularly problematic. The argument — made by no less than Jobs…
Is IE9 a modern browser? NO
HTMl5 is all the rage when talking about modern browsers but what I care most about is CSS3. IE9 won’t support…
- CSS3 Transitions
- CSS3 Text Shadow
- CSS3 Gradients
- CSS3 Border Image
Basically some of the best parts of CSS3, WTF Microsoft?
This. I congratulate the IE team for improving IE9 so much over it’s development. But seriously, what the fuck. You’re going to get it almost to the level of a real modern browser that provides it’s users with a real web experience like it’s meant to be displayed… Then you suddenly give up. Someone, somewhere, in the team that caused this to happen needs to be promptly fired.

Without Thinking - The Streets - Computers and Blues
my current obsession. i must have listened 20-30x on soundcloud last week.
it came out in the UK this past weekend. I became a pirate to get it in the US and documented the torture involved.
I love the streets. Witty, musical and they make me want to dance. This is awesome.
My Bloody Valentine [Only Shallow]
Never has noise been so musical as when it is created by MBV. Loveless is an amazing wall of sound at once energising and heat-breaking. I only wish there was more for us to listen to.

La Ritournelle - Sebastien Tellier
Such a beautiful track. The soaring string arrangement would make it worthy of an entry in this list on its own, but when you add in the lazy-funk drums and the whimsical, poetic lyrics this is an all out winner. Sebastien Tellier is, by all accounts, a little barmy and I find his music somewhat hit and miss, but some people are made for a purpose, and this song is his.
Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space - Spirutualized [I think I’m in Love]
A symphonic trip through noise and melody. Touching, snarling and endlessly imaginative. Truly this is music for astronauts.

Glaciers of Ice //// El Michels Affair
Wu Tang collaborators and makers of stunningly atmospheric soul. This stuff has made my day/week/month/year. Full band story here.

Watch the video below entitled “Above Everything Else” by Alex Roman and then recoil in disbelief when we tell you the entire thing is computer generated.
